Step onto Hvar’s shores and you’ll be bowled over by the gleaming yachts bobbing in the harbour and marble-clad walkways teeming with the well-heeled. For this is Croatia’s most elite party spot, where even Prince Harry and Beyoncé have been known to let loose after dark.

But you don’t have to be ultra-wealthy to experience the island’s hedonistic vibes. Hvar’s nightlife starts with beach clubs, unravels into chic cocktail bars and ends at island hotspots.

Hula Hula Hvar

Follow the promenade around the harbour and you’ll find Hula Hula Hvar. Set along the waterfront, this super-cool beach bar is the ultimate place to watch the sun go down to the sound of house music. Frozen cocktails, flutes of champagne and chilled beers are all up for grabs from the wooden bar – pick your favourite and climb atop a table to dance straight into dusk.

Nautica Bar

Right along the waterfront, Nautica Bar is where pop hits are blasted out until the early hours. It tends to be jam-packed from 11pm onwards with a young crowd. There are more than 100 cocktails to choose from, many of which are set on fire right in front of you on the bar!

Carpe Diem

Hop aboard a speedboat from the marina and cruise across the water under the cover of stars to Carpe Diem, Hvar’s top late-night spot set on atmospheric Otok Marinkovac island. Disembark and wander into the open-air club set among the trees which thrums to the sound of techno. The air is filled with a hypnotic energy created by world-famous DJs and spectacular dancers.

Central Park Club

Right in the heart of Hvar Town, Central Park Club is a suave coffee shop by day and live music hub by night. Performers take to the stage on the uncovered terrace every night from April to October, bringing soul, blues, jazz and rock ‘n’ roll to Hvar’s nightlife scene. Sip on cocktails or order a bottle of wine and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

Kiva Bar

Hunt down this hotspot among Hvar Town’s tangle of cobbled streets. The atmosphere is electric at this crowded bar, with hordes of party goers getting down to the loud old school tunes being pumped into the room and spilling out into the neighbouring alleyway.
